izzy rant

Just a little food for thought…

So i’ve been watching carefully and closely, cause the issue in japan is important to me. One thing i’ve noticed is that a $10 donation can get me peace of mind through tumblr, a hat in teamfortress 2, a cape in Rappelz, a real-life T-shirt from runescape, and probably several other things that i’m actually not particularly interested in.

point: All these places are asking for money. (which i’m happy with and am not in the slightest complaining about.)

where does all this money go? it goes directly to red-cross to provide food, emergency blankets, and shelter for the victims in japan.

How? Volunteers and employees distribute those goods.

Sub-point: where do all the volunteers come from? Not once in browsing the internet have i seen a “Volunteer at a local red-cross allied center, your time matters”.

Bottom-Line: why are we so focused on giving our care and concern as money instead of the more important gesture of our time? you can always receive more money, you can’t however receive more time, only give it. I’ve given what money i can afford (poor boy don’t have much T.T ), but i’d be thrilled (and am looking into) to volunteer for something that would help (even if it’s boxing donations or something.) Time is always more important and valuable than money…

Izzy Mini-rant:

If a guy starts giving you compliments…

… JUST TAKE THE FUCKING COMPLIMENT! don’t start picking out everything you think is wrong with yourself! I’m getting to the point were I don’t even want to talk to any girl because of this….

artists will say it all day long ” you are your own worst critic”. even if you have to shut the fuck up, just take the mother fucking compliment!

and if you can’t say nothing, just smile, bat your eyes and say ” I know” it won’t make you look arrogent, i promise. relatives, interests, strangers, it doesn’t matter who gives it to you, when you start listing off whats wrong with you, the only thing that person hears is ” I have no confidence in myself and hate whatever you just complimented me on, and think you’re crazy.”

ever listened to one of those motivational or self help tapes? the ones that say “people look at the confidence you have in yourself.”?. let me clear this up …  THOSE INSTRUCTORS ARE TALKING TO YOU PEOPLE!!! KNOW WHAT YOU KNOW AND KNOW WHAT YOU DON’T KNOW!

Sometimes I feel like college is America’s biggest scam.

mylittlebrittany:

savantesyndrome:

avegemitesandwich:

thingsworthhavingnevercomeeasily:

Pay money that you don’t have to graduate from college to go into a world with no jobs. But everything is fine because you have a piece of paper saying you’re a college graduate while you’re busy working at Starbucks trying to make ends meet.

Welcome to America.

Welcome to Australia.

I just want to clarify that this “piece of paper” can mean the world to some people. Of course I’m entirely biased in this sentiment by being a first generation college student from a low income family, but my diploma will be a tangible reminder of not only my hard work, but the efforts of my parents for emotionally and financially supporting and encouraging me. That piece of paper will be the fruit of my labor.

Now, all personal feelings aside, a college diploma is generally one of the first steps towards obtaining either a higher degree or gaining access to a career field that would otherwise be entirely inaccessible. College graduates, on average, make over a million dollars more in their lifetime than high school graduates (according to the U.S. Census Bureau). Not only that, but the college environment can provide many young adults with the opportunity to explore their interests, hone their leadership skills in an academic environment under the guidance of faculty members, and have a slew of internship and volunteer opportunities exposed to them. I’m not trying to say that every single person would benefit from the college experience, because I don’t believe that at all. I’m positive that some people’s interests lie in fields that don’t require attending an institution of higher education, and that is both understandable and expected. However, to call college a flat-out “scam” is ridiculous. The admissions system, financial aid requirements, and post-graduation employment opportunities can look bleak or just fucked up, but what institution doesn’t have its pitfalls now? If you’re set on obtaining your diploma, then you make it work.

I’ve met a few people who simply believe that putting down the college system is the most sensible thing to do, but you know what? There are people out there who can’t afford not to go to college. They need that diploma, that life experience, that achievement to really set out on accomplishing their goals, whatever they may be. Not everyone can be supported by their parents and have the luxury to refuse a college education.

It’s not just a piece of paper.

Thank you for articulating what I cannot.

”Until the early 1970s, less than 11 percent of the adult population graduated from college, and most of them could get a decent job. Today nearly a third have college degrees, and a higher percentage of them graduated from non elite schools. A bachelors degree on its own no longer conveys intelligence and capability. To get a good job, you have to have some special skill — charm, by the way, counts — that employers value. But there’s also a pretty good chance that by some point in the next few years, your boss will find that some new technology or some worker overseas can replace you.”

let me just link a couple things here…
http://youtu.be/zDZFcDGpL4U
http://youtu.be/VpZtX32sKVE

… lets face it, having a degree does NOT guarantee you a job (couldn’t find the statistics for people with jobs not in their degree field). the “scam” part also comes from them targeting those students who graduate high school in the lower 40% (who’s chances of getting a bachelors degree are less than 20%, those who obtain degrees in colleges come from the top 60%~ish of high school graduates.) also, the scam comes in at the books, which has next to all information found right here on the good ol’ Internet.

“make over a million dollars a year” - not true for all fields, or even most fields that require a degree. instead you need to look at the average annual income in the field your interested in. the difference between going to school for 6 years to become a code monkey (avg. 32k/ year) to the difference of a dentist hygienist (avg. 68k/year), or to compare something else in health-care, a dietetic technician (avg 28k/yr) is crazy. {http://www.bls.gov/oes/current/oes_nat.htm#29-0000}. not all jobs that take the same time to learn are equal, not every diploma costs the same amount, not every diploma will pay 1mil over a lifetime…. in fact, the fabled “1 million dollar diploma” requires about a 200k in debts/money to acquire, if you get a job in that field… (ps: the “million dollar average” includes the annual salary of the top 5 billionaires in America). To call a college a flat out scam is the truth, to call education a scam would be ridiculous. you do not need college to receive an education.

Pertaining to financial aid, my parents make more than $200k a year combined income, and was told to apply for financial aid since the help i would receive would be slim to none. guess what? my parents make too much money for me to receive financial aid even though i don’t live in the same household nor receive my living expenses from them.

the difference between “pitfall” and “broken/outdated system” are very different myfriend…

it is a peice of paper. you’re being hired for your skill set, not your wallet. thus the rise of all the college alternatives within the last 30 years.(vocational schools for example, which as in the previous example of dentists, there are training programs for) {http://lmgtfy.com/?q=college+alternatives}

oh… and i thought i’d fix this part for you: Not everyone can be supported by money and have the luxury to choose a college education or not.

“Life is Simple, People are complicated”

I’ve said this for quite awhile now, and the general gist is pretty easy to understand. we make life complicated. Though something i was just talking to Hekta-kun about might have just expanded the idea, let me rant a bit here…

Life is simple~

this half is easy. with out people, nature is easy. plants grow where they have soil/water/light, animals hunt to eat or hide to suvive. but life isn’t only simple, it’s stable. Math will always have the core 2+2=4. chemistry will always have 1 oxygen and 2 hydrogen bond into water. with more molecules and heat/motion in the mix, probability becomes a factory, but it’s all grounded in stable, defined rules. Nothing can exist outside the rules, only exist within rules we don’t understand yet. Life is simple, life is stable.

People are complicated~

the Yin half of the equation. no mater how subtle a person is, or how knowledgeable they are, people are complex. Mood, personality, rational, chemical balance, emotion, timing, persuasiveness. the whole being of a person is unstable. we change our minds, some of us more frequently than others. week to week, hour to hour, minute to minute. we want it, do we want it? should we want it? we don’t need it. can we afford it? how will i feel because of it? … and all that is just from one person! our constant state of change is how we often mess ourselves up. how many people do you know who’ve never changed their mind? you might know one, but they are a rare breed. People are complicated, People are unstable.

let me ask a question for this mini-rant, how is your life simple, but the people in it complex? do you feel i’m wrong? lets get some answers, please:3 ?

The Mittani’s response to his alliance

His formal Apology

-=- My thoughts on this -=-

while i don’t agree with goonswarm tactics and 1 on 1 mentality, mittani is a great leader, handled this incident appropriately, and as any politician in the real world could better than any politician in the real world could.

For those of you who don’t know  E.V.E. online is a space game. one where only a small portion of the 5000 solar systems are remotely protected by npc’s (none player characters). over 95% of the items and ships in eve are player created. npc’s only seed skill books, needed to level skills up into the game, that way players can’t control other players directly. Even is systems where npc’s “protect” against crime, or players killing each other. The police are NOT there to prevent the crime/murder from happening, they are there to bring down punishment on the offending player.

The rest of the universe (some were in the realm of 4000 of the solar systems) is lawless. literally lawless. players are free to stake claim and kill who ever they desire. they are free to conduct themselves (within the game) how ever they want. they band together in corporations and alliances. they wage war in scales that actually rival real world skirmishes.

{{to expand on that point, you can buy a 30day pass to the game with in-game money or real life currency, meaning you can value the fluctuating eve market in a currency. A $19 USD will sell for 480,000,000, ISK (Interstelar kredits) ingame. some ships have been known to carry the real life equivalent of over $2000 worth of in game items. thus stemming that the economy of eve is actually more profitable, and sees more currency transactions than the country of iceland where the game is developed.}}

The most interesting part of this is that there is a real correlation between playing this game, and playing in the real world. Mittani here is a prime example. he let his actions of killing a miner then mocking him for crying and claiming to be “suicidal since he lost his ship ($$)” spill into the real world. this act in it’s self wasn’t a banable offence. RULE #1 OF EVE, DON’T FLY WHAT YOU CAN’T AFFORD TO LOSE!. the issue here is that mittani, while under the influence of alchol, made a statement about the miner crying and mentioned the miner’s name.

that was mittani’s error in judgement, he mentioned the character’s ingame name. allowing anyone who was watching the live stream of the convention he was at to openly riddicule, or communicate with this player. I will say that i agree with mitani that CCP’s actions to ban him and kick him off the player management team (a democraticly ellected 7 individuals who’s job it is to make sure the dev team is doing their job and listening to the community) WAS MORE DUE TO cpp having other corporate  interests watching them. CCP is currently releasing DUST514 on the sony playstation as a free to play game. I feel that Mittani IS being crucified by CCP as a show to sony and other game reporters an enforcement over their community. an enforcement that in all honesty does not exist…

Now I personally do not think this is a case of cyber bullying (though it does allow for cyber bullying). why? cause EVE is harsh and cruel at it’s core. not because that’s how CCP (the development team) made it, but because CCP designed the game to be a open ended world. ANYTIME humans have territory without rule, they form packs, they form tribes, they hunt each other, they mark territory, they expand, they war….

-=- my bottom line -=-

this miner stepped out into the wilds of lawless space ingame. he was amongst duel to the death gentlemen, savage Apache fighters, blood thirst barbarians, accurate snipers, and back stabbing psychopaths, And this miner only brought a bullet proof vest. he deserves in-game mocking, especially if a video game is going to make him rage and cry. He however, does not deserve to be pushed into honest suicidal thoughts, cause he still is a person and a human.

BACK FROM THE BEACH!~

omg, such a great time =^.^=

…. so tired though…. that’s probably why i’m hyper right now.

while i won’t go into all the details, there was a bit of gambling, quite a bit of dancing, way too much alcohol , and one extremely nice ~walking alone on the beach at 3 in the morning with nothing but the moonlight to light my 3 mile relaxing trek~ … yeah it was 40-50 degrees in temp the whole time and most of the time 20-40 mph wind gusts with a little to alot of rain, but you know what?

cool and a little wet is how i like it =~.^= (giggidy?)

honestly though, i know i’m quiet and uncomfortable around strangers (people think i’m a kreep :/ ) but it was nice to step out of my everyday routen and environment, cause i can look at it now and see where i need my improvements.

it’s easy to side-shelf what you want cause you have what you need. I have what i need; food, roof, electricity, water, contentment. But i’m missing what i want, to be happy.

this is turning into an izzy mini-rant, but o well. LIST TIME!

WHAT WOULD MAKE IZZY MOST HAPPY :

  1.  a job. any job. i’m printing out my resume again when i finish this post, making a list of un-changeable planed events i have, then heading to the temp office tommorow. no joke, no shit.
  2. my own place. I CANNOT keep living like i have. i’ve always have tryed to stay out of the way. out of sight, out of mind. I’m a person, not a piece of dirt trying to avoid being steped on. I need to clean up my environment ( even little by little, 2-10 hand fulls a day should do it in decent time), then own my environment. need a job to get one.
  3. a girl. self explanitory? maybe, but dumb shits abound, so i’ll elaborate. I STILL IN NO WAY CARE ABOUT MYSELF. i want to work on it, but i’m a person pleaser, not people, person. I want and need someone to make happy, why? cause i’m not sure i can be happy on my own. i’d live, but not fully. need a place to take her/show off to her. need a job to attract her, cause if i’ve realized something this weekend, it’s that i can live without a lot of money, but people want things. food, drinks, cloths, what have you. i’m not going to be even looked at if i can’t even provide for myself let alone another person. (i’m in ego mode, don’t argue this point, you WILL lose).

so yeah, i had a great time partying at the beach this weekend, and i’m not just mini-ranting out of being pumped up, but out of steping back into my life and being disgusted with how i look. ( not physically mind you, i’m rather content with my appearance, could use a bit more hair, but o well :3). i might have to get a little help from friends to hold me to it, cause i do get slothful and complient, but i’m sick of living like… well THIS~….

time for a life change…. fates give me the momentum and energy to actually get the ball rolling.

~live without regret, die without shame~
